Final Results and Race Penalties

The final results have been announced by Sail Training International for Race 2 of The Tall Ships Races 2012 which took place from Lisbon to Cíçdiz this week.

Following receipt of all race declaration forms, there are no changes at the top.  However, two vessels have been issued with a penalty by the Race Committee and six vessels have retired.

Unfortunately, the Race Committee has been left with little choice other than to disqualify one of the Spanish entries.

Class C vessel, Tartessos (Spain) has been highlighted  for Contravention of Rule 29.1 which involved missing a waypoint.

It has also been agreed that Class D vessel, Tomidi (Belgium) is

issued a Standard Time Penalty (STP) for contravention of Rule 17.7

which saw the vessel stray into the ‘no go zone’ at the race start near

Lisbon.

The following vessels have officially retired from the race:  Alexander Von Humboldt II (Germany), Lord Nelson (UK), Moosk (UK), Vera Cruz (Portugal), Juan De Langara (Spain) and Vela Nautica II (Portugal).

Class A

1st: Dar Mlodziezy (Poland)

2nd: Europa (Netherlands)

3rd: Fryderyk Chopin (Poland)

Class B:

1st: Rupel (Belgium)

2nd: Johanna Lucretia (UK)

3rd: Maybe (UK)

Class C:

1st: Dar Szczecina (Poland)

2nd: St Iv (Estonia)

3rd: Hosanna (France)

Class D:

1st: Urania (Netherlands)

2nd: Lietuva (Lithuania) 

3rd: Akela (Russia)

The fleet with now take a break to cruise in company after two closely contended races.  The fleet will make their way from

Cíçdiz to the next Spanish port of A Coruí±a, due to arrive in port on Friday 10th August 2012.

The Tall Ships Races 2012, Presented by Szczecin and organised by Sail Training International is taking place in the following host ports: 

St Malo – Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 July (race start Monday 9 July)

Lisbon – Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 July

Cíçdiz – Thursday 26 to Sunday 29 July

A Coruí±a – Friday 10 to Monday 13 August

Dublin – Thursday 23 to Sunday 26 August
