And The Winner Is…

October 17, 2011

Friends of Sail Training International and The Tall Ships Races have chosen this year’s winner of our annual photography competition with just 11 votes splitting first and second place.

The winning shot was taken by Amelia Hall on board Norwegian Vessel, Christan Radich, during her voyage from Greenock, Scotland to Lerwick, Shetland.  Congratulations Amelia!

Second overall and winner of the ‘Under Sail’ category featured John Laing closely followed by Maybe and was taken by Peter Koele whilst on board Dutch vessel Tecla

Jonathan Backus topped the ‘Having Fun’ category when he snapped at just the right moment to capture trainees mid-flight on Wylde Swan.  This was joint third overall with Piotr Ostrowski’s ‘Below Deck’ image summing up an exhausting day on Polish vessel, Pogoria.

Well done to all of those who entered. Please keep posting images on our Facebook page to get us through a cold winter and to remind us of the fun to be had at The Tall Ships Races 2012!

VIDEO COMPETITION

This year Sail Training International thought it would be fun to share what happens during The Tall Ships Races on video and we weren’t dissapointed with the results.

Congratulations to Fraser Gibbs who showed us what it is like to party Europa style with his winning entry which had over 1000 views. This was closely followed by a dramatic submission from Wojciech Maleika on board Dar Szczecina who had an extremely successful Race Series.

Ciick to watch the winning video. We look forward to seeing more next year!
