New captain for De Gallant

July 23, 2010

Captain of De Gallant, Fieke De Batt, is new to the Tall Ships Racing fleet, though De Gallant has been a regular competitor for many years.    Fieke, who at 28 is one of the youngest captains in the fleet, is at the start of a three-month spell on De Gallant and loved the first race.  äóìThere is something really special about sailing such a beautiful ship as De Gallant.  The weather was excellent and, as we say in the Netherlands, she rode the waves like a seagulläó.

The crew are now looking forward to the Cruise in Company with eleven trainees on board of four different nationalities.

In preparation for the Cruise in Company, crew changes have been taking place throughout the fleet, maintenance completed and stores taken on board the ships.  After a wonderful few days in port, the fleet leave Aalborg tomorrow (Saturday) with a Parade of Sail, starting at 1300hrs.
