Hansa arrives in Lavrion

June 3, 2010

The Spanish yacht Hansa has arrived in Lavrion having been the first to cross the finish line in Race 3 of the Historical Seas Tall Ships Regatta. The vessel finished the race last night at 21:38:37 UTC/GMT and arrived into Lavrion at 0200 local this morning. The crew are now enjoying a well needed rest.

While the earlier part of the race had seen some good winds for the vessel to make good progress down the race course, they reported that the last five miles to the finish line were difficult. “There was no wind at all so we just had to wait for the current to take us towards the line,” reported a crew member. “The last five miles took us five hours!”

It is expected that Dar Mlodziezy (Poland) and Mir (Russia), the two biggest Class A vessels in the fleet, will also arrive in Lavrion later today.
